How much do you know about the phenomenon and cause of battery reverse polarity?
Auther: Pubdate:2020-05-07
The device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy is called a chemical battery, generally referred to as a battery. After discharge, the internal active material can be regenerated by charging-storing electrical energy as chemical energy; when discharging is needed, chemical energy is converted into electrical energy again. This type of battery is called a storage battery (Storage Battery), also known as a secondary battery. The so-called accumulator is an electro-chemical equipment that stores chemical energy and emits electrical energy when necessary.

How much do you know about the phenomenon and causes of battery reverse polarity? Today, Conrad ’s editor introduces you to this issue:

The reverse pole of a lead-acid battery means that the positive and negative poles of the battery have changed. The reverse pole phenomenon is reflected in two aspects. Reversed. In this case, when the lead-acid battery is filled with acid and the terminal voltage is measured with a voltmeter, the terminal voltage value is less than the sum of the rated voltages of the individual batteries or the terminal voltage is negative.

On the other hand, when the lead-acid battery is used in series in multiple discharges, the capacity of a certain battery (or a single battery) is low or completely lost. During discharge, this battery is quickly discharged and reverse-charged by other batteries, so that the original negative electrode becomes the positive electrode, the original positive electrode becomes the negative electrode, and the terminal voltage has a negative value.

For the former type of reverse pole failure, when measuring the battery terminal voltage (battery composed of multiple single cells), it can be found that if there is a single cell reverse pole, not only the 2 V voltage of the battery is lost, but also increases 2V reverse voltage, the terminal voltage should be reduced by about 4V.

For example, for a battery with a rated voltage of 12 V, if the terminal voltage is measured to be around 8 V, it means that there is a single cell reverse pole. If the terminal voltage is measured to be around 4 V, it means that there are 2 single cell reverse poles, if the terminal voltage is measured to be around -4 V, then there are 4 single cell reverse poles, if the terminal voltage is measured to be -12 V, then there are 6 single cells Both are polar.

For the latter type of reverse-polarity fault, the terminal voltage value (negative value) varies with the discharge condition. Generally, during the test, the battery should be removed from the discharge line in time to avoid damage to the battery.
